Choosing the right style for your portrait

To order your pet portrait please view the various styles and pricing structures below. When you have selected please get in touch via my contact section. All I need is a clear photograph of your pet, the higher quality the better as it allows me to add more detail to your portrait. I can combine separate photographs to make one picture and if you require a size not listed please do get in touch for a quote - framing option available for local collection/delivery only.

Please note a £30 deposit is required to reserve your space for a commission. This is non refundable once the artwork has been started.

Coloured Pencil:

A classic and modern style of pet portrait with a white background. This is a highly detailed way of drawing and I use only the finest quality of coloured pencils. These include Caran d'Ache pablo's and Luminance, Faber castell Albrect Durer's and Polychromos and Derwent Lightfast. This is drawn on Xerox Nevertear paper or drafting film. A simple background such as a flag can be added on request. Please note I do use a lot of colour in my work and try to make your pets as vibrant as possible.

Mixed Paint and Pencil:

If you are after a picture which has a more painterly feel and/or with an elaborate background then this is the style you need. I can mix and match different photos to come up with a composition that you want - the more ambitious the better! This is well demonstrated on my picture of the Bernese Mountain dogs as each dog was from its own photo, the background was from a separate photo again and then some artistic licence thrown in. This is done using thick and sturdy pastel mat board by Clairefontaine, a base layer of Windsor and Newton Gouache is then applied before adding the final detail with my coloured pencils. Please note this style is particularly colourful and vibrant.
